PowerWF Studio Beta Update
PowerWF Studio for VMWare build 0.9.3572.16911 was released today.
There were two major enhancements and several minor enhancements and bugfixes in this build. The full release notes are here: http://powerwf.com/download/All/Release-VMWareEnt.html
The first of the two major enhancements is the consolidation of the three PowerWF Studio products for VMWare (Desktop, DataCenter for PowerShell v1, and DataCenter for PowerShell v1) into a single product download. This was accomplished by adding a runtime dependency checker to PowerWF Studio for the Activity Packs. Now rather than asking the user at install time which packs to install all of the VMWare packs are installed and the appropriate packs are enabled at runtime based on what is installed on the runtime host. The disk footprint of PowerWF Studio increased in size marginally (from 46M to 49M). The benefit is a single download for all of the VMWare related PowerWF features.
The second major feature enhancement in this build is the new embedded PowerShell. Embedded in a pane below the canvas is a PowerShell shell window. We’re striving for 100% parity with the standalone PowerShell window provided by Microsoft. From the embedded shell you can execute any command as if you were in the standalone shell. One benefit to using the embedded shell is that the built-in PowerShell interpreter can read text & scripts from that window and instantly convert them into workflows. It’s as easy as swiping text then hitting ‘Insert’.

In addition to these major enhancements we’ve included a number of important bugfixes and other minor enhancements. The parser is an area of intense work as we strive to meet 100% compatibility with PowerShell v2.
